In one community after another, DMB builds on public-private partnerships, an approach that began with Centerpoint on Mill. This mixed-use development called for long-term strategic thinking and the ability to create synergy between elected officials, city planners and corporate leaders. The result was a landmark venture spanning three city blocks in downtown Tempe, Arizona.
For three decades, DMB worked closely with the City of Tempe and their planning department, maintaining an open, productive relationship from initial presentation to today.
DMB was instrumental in bringing large-scale business and retail tenants aboard, including Chase Bank and Harkins Theatres. Centerpoint is also home to the first urban parking garage in downtown Tempe.
Of Centerpoint’s $3 million commercial development budget, 10% was dedicated to public art. The now-iconic jackrabbit sculptures by Mark Rossi became one of the first examples of public art in downtown Tempe.
Centerpoint on Mill is an eclectic mix of offices, shopping, dining, nightlife, housing and entertainment. Situated at the heart of pedestrian-friendly Mill Avenue – which attracts visitors from metro Phoenix as well as college students from nearby Arizona State University (ASU) – Centerpoint generates job growth and revenues for the City of Tempe.
