An active, engaged community that opened in 2005, Marley Park offers the warmth and charm of traditional neighborhoods. On September 20, the community will come together to celebrate a decade of genuine hometown fun at a genuine hometown BBQ.
This unique community feels like a neighborhood. That’s an achievement given the large scale (956 acres) of this charming community in Surprise, Arizona. Friendly and down-to-earth, Marley Park was designed by DMB as the best expression of what communities used to be. Every activity and amenity serves to bring neighbors and families together.
And it works.
Once home to cotton fields and rose gardens, Marley Park includes more than 140 acres devoted to parks and open space. Fifteen distinctive themed neighborhood parks, linked by the tree-lined Arbor Walk, invite residents to get outdoors together.
In the heart of Marley Park is the Heritage Campus which includes Heritage Park, a 25-acre park with baseball fields, gazebo stage and open-air amphitheater, as well as the community’s private recreational facilities for resident parties and meetings: the 6,000 square foot Heritage Club and the two-acre Heritage Pool House.
Education is fundamental to this family-oriented community. Marley Park is home to highly rated schools. In addition to Marley Park Elementary School, Legacy Traditional School (a K-8 school on 12 acres in Marley Park) celebrated its opening and first day of school on August 4, 2015. This new charter school offers an accelerated, back to basics curriculum with a choice of specialized education in performing arts or health and fitness.
To help residents get to know each other and to create cherished memories, the Marley Park Community Association plans year-round celebrations, including signature events.
The Star-Spangled Celebration is Marley Park’s patriotic tribute to Independence Day with a community parade and pool party. The 2014 celebration was especially meaningful as the Veterans Commemorative Plaza (VCP) was dedicated. An initiative of members of Marley Park Leadership, the VCP in Marley Park is the only veterans’ memorial in Phoenix’s Northwest Valley honoring US veterans of all military branches.
Each October, Homestead Harvest Festival includes pumpkin carving, Pawstume Parade (for pets of all shapes and sizes) and Boo Bash carnival and costume contest. The year wraps up with Home for the Holidays celebration in December that includes carolers, photos with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides and snow.
As the community grows in 2016 – Ashton Woods recently closed on 297 lots in the community’s Phase 3 development – so will the activities and amenities to continue to bring neighbors together.
